ListServs on the
Virginia Masonic Information Net

Due to the amount of time and effort that it takes to maintain individual ListServes, I have reduced the number of ListServes on the Net to two main ListServs and three separate ListServs for the use of Alexandria-Washington Lodge. The active ListServs are now:

- Masons ListServ - notify@Jack33.net
- Virginia State DeMolay ListServ - va_demolay@Jack33.net
- Alexandria-Washington DeMolay Chapter - AWChapter@Jack33.net

The ListServs are used in the following manner:

Discussions on national or local POLITICS or on RELIGIONS ARE NOT allowed on any of the ListServs.

A condition of joining any of the ListServs is that you will agree to abide by the usage rules that have been established for each of the ListServs. Anyone who fails, by their actions, to follow the rules, will have their E-mail address removed from the ListServ and will be prevented from rejoining at the discretion of the ListServ owner.

A Major point to remember. When you send a message to the list address, it is received by both Master Masons and non-Masons. This is not a tiled Lodge. You should treat your information or comments in the same manner as if you are speaking outside the Lodge. Do not discuss anything that is not proper to be made known to a non-Mason. Also, please remember the obligations you accepted when you became a Mason. It is not proper to speak badly about a Brother Master Mason or of the actions of the officers of a Lodge in any form, more especially this form. Honor your Brothers and the fraternity by your own proper actions.

With the exception of the AW22 ListServ, anyone with an E-mail address can subscribe directly to any of the three ListServ. But, only those E-mail addresses that are listed on the ListServ are able to send messages to the list. I have the ListServs set this way to prevent "Spammers" or advertisers from sending unwanted messages to the list. If a spammer joins the list to send messages to it, I can immediately block the address from which the messages are originating.

How does a ListServ work? If your address is on the ListServ, you can send a message to     [listserv name]@Jack33.net     and the message will go to every address on the ListServ you have designated. It is that simple.
