- PURPOSE. The purpose of this award is to annually recognize the Virginia DeMolay who, over the course of his DeMolay career, best represents the fourth precept in his life and in particular in his dealings with other DeMolays.
- ELIGIBILITY. Any active member of a Virginia DeMolay chapter is eligible to be considered for this designation.
- SELECTION. Each year’s Brotherhood Award designee will be selected by a Brotherhood Award Selection Committee and approved by the Executive Officer.
- The Director of Competitions will appoint a committee of previous Brotherhood Award designees to the Brotherhood Award Selection Committee each year.
- In the event no previous winners are available to serve on such a committee, the Director of Competitions will work with the State Master Councilor and the Executive Officer to appoint appropriate individuals to such a committee.
- NOMINATIONS. Any individual may nominate any Virginia DeMolay to receive this award. Nominations must be submitted to the Director of Competitions, who will pass them to the Brotherhood Award Selection Committee. The nomination format and deadline will be announced by the Director of Competitions annually.
- CONFIDENTIALITY. The deliberations and decisions of the Brotherhood Award Selection Committee will be confidential until such time as the designee is announced. Only members of the appointed committee, the State Master Councilor, the Executive Officer and the Director of Competitions will be privy to the identity of the nominees and the selected designee. Nominees may not know of their nomination to the committee for this award.
- PRESENTATION. The Brotherhood Award will be presented annually at a meeting of the Virginia State Association. As the Virginia State Association meets several times each year, the Director of Competitions will work with the State Master Councilor, the Executive Officer, and the Brotherhood Award Selection Committee to determine which meeting the award will be presented at each year.
